Swimming Bio Mechanics Essays - Aerodynamics, Fluid Dynamics
Swimming Bio Mechanics Characteristic powers influence the developments of swimmers in water. Also, it is frequently helpful to know how these powers demonstration. This information will help swimming instructors and mentors dissect swimming abilities and help them to see how these powers impact development, with the goal that they can urge amateurs to be better swimmers or great swimmers to accomplish there ideal potential. Biomechanics is the part of science that is worried about understanding the connection between a living body's structure and capacity comparative with development. In this paper the swimming type of the front slither stroke will be examined, which may bring about progress in the accompanying territories: ? Improving execution ? Forestalling injury ? Revising shortcomings ? Distinguishing approaches to modify human development designs Biomechanics is viewed as the material science of how the body moves. At the point when these physical standards are applied to athletic abilities it turns into a coordinated examination between the interior powers delivered by the body and the normally happening outer powers that follow up on the body as aptitudes are executed (Carr, 1997, p4.). In spite of the fact that the last nature of development will thoroughly rely on the competitor's (swimmer's) capacity to coordinate both inward powers created by strong activities with the outside powers of gravity, lightness, fiction and mass that are available during swimming. When taking a gander at swimming one should initially take a gander at how the human body acts and creates powers in water. Water is a one of a kind situation. It has characteristics that will help the swimmer, however it likewise has characteristics that will hinder the swimmer's advancement through the water. For example, the water's thickness gives a light power to the swimmer, while simultaneously giving protection from the swimmers impetus (, 1995, p42). Themes to proceed with: Main standards and their application Thickness Water Resistance Skin/Frictional Resistance Frontal/Wave Resistance Swirl/Turbulence Resistance Impetus Water Friction Propulsive Drag Lift Force Smoothing out The fundamental standards and their use of the front slither stir Lightness and Flotation An article that is inundated either absolutely or incompletely in water encounters an upward power as the water's thickness attempts to prevent it from sinking (Maglischo, 1982). This upward power is known as the light power and acts through the focal point of the dislodged water. This power in this manner, will in general neutralize the impact of gravity and the heaviness of the article, the net outcome being that the heaviness of the item is decreased by the upward power of lightness (Costill, 1992). (#Diagram#) Each article has a flat out focus position where all powers applied by the body equivalent zero. This essential issue of an article's mass is known as the focal point of gravity and is the point around which it adjusts. The focal point of gravity is around 50-52% of a people tallness, as there is an equivalent spread of mass above and underneath this point (Allen, 1999). The equivalent can be said for the focal point of lightness, as above and beneath this point there is an equivalent spread of volume of the dislodged water (Allen, 1999). The area of the focal point of lightness which is the focal point of the water dislodged by the body, is in reality nearer to the head than in the area of the focal point of gravity. The explanations behind this are: ? The volume of water uprooted has a more noteworthy mass then the chest region. ? The chest has a lower thickness than the water due to its lung limit. Along these lines the upward power of lightness acts thought a point higher up the body than the focal point of gravity (Costill, 1992). (#Diagram#) (I may need to incorporate more?) (And relate it back to the front creep?) Thickness The term explicit gravity is utilized to portray the proportion between an item's thickness to that of water's thickness. Unadulterated water thickness being the reference point having a particular gravity of 1.00 (Carr, 1997, p67). In this manner anything set in water will buoy or sink in agreement to it's own particular gravity esteem. Anything more prominent than 1.00, will sink. While anything short of 1.00 will coast. In the human body there is variety from individual to individual, this is because of the measure of air in ones lungs and the level of bone, muscle and fat, which all shift in their own individual masses. Both bone and muscle are heavier than fat. From this data one can accept that a lean and
The Tragedy of Macbeth | Analysis
The Tragedy of Macbeth | Analysis The deplorability of Macbeth is a play ordinarily called Macbeth by William Shakespeare concerning the regicide and repercussions. It is the Shakespeares briefest disaster accepted to have been put down somewhere in the range of 1603 and 1607. Shakespeares wellsprings of catastrophe are experiences of Macduff, King Macbeth of Scotland and Duncan in Holinsheds Chronicles of 1587, history for Scotland, England and Ireland like Shakespeare and his responsibility (Coursen and Herbert 1997). The underlying demonstration of play opens in the in the midst of lighting and thunder when the current three witches came into choice of meeting with Macbeth in their next gathering. In the accompanying scene, a harmed commander offered portrayal to King Duncan of Scotland with respect to his officers Macbeth (Thane of Glamis) and Banquo. The report audited how Banquo and Thane of Glamis had crushed their foes powers of Norway and Ireland who were driven by backstabber Macdonwald. Macbeth, the rulers brother was evaluated for his battling ability and valiance. As the scene took another measurement, Banquo and Macbeth entered as they examined about the climate and their triumph. As they meandered onto the heath, the three witches entered as they held on to invite them with predictions. In spite of the fact that the Banquo challenges them from the outset, they tended to Macbeth after all㠢â⠬â ¦ (Coursen and Herbert 1997). The primary witch gathered Macbeth as Thane of Glamis, second as Thane of Cawdor while the third one declared he could be the King in future. Macbeth appeared to be astonished into quiet as Banquo tested them moreover. The witches advise Banquo that he would father the line of Kings, show up and educate Macbeth concerning his recently presented title. In this manner the main prediction is satisfied. Out of nowhere, Macbeth begins to harbor desire to turn into a lord. Macbeth kept in touch with his better half concerning the witches predictions as Duncan chooses to stay in the Macbeths fortification at Inverness, while Lady Macbeth accompanies an arrangement to execute him and ensure the seat of her significant other. Despite the fact that Macbeth is worried about the reignite, in the end Lady Macbeth convinced him by moving his masculinity to persuade him to follow his arrangements (Coursen and Herbert 1997). On the night when the King visited, Macbeth slaughtered Duncan however the deed isn't perceived by the crowd. Be that as it may, it leaves Macbeth so puzzled that Lady Macbeth needed to assume responsibility. Contingent upon his arrangements, she puts the Duncans resting hirelings for executing by embeddings bleeding knifes on them. At that point the doorman opened the entryway as Macbeth drove them into the rulers chamber, whereby Macduff found Duncans body. In the invented well of sharpness, Macbeth executes the watchmen before they would take care for their honesty. Macduff is then dubious of Macbeth however he doesn't demonstrate his doubt to individuals. To run for their lives, the Duncans children leave, Donalbain to Ireland, and Malcolm to England. The right beneficiaries journey calls them assume and Macbeth takes the sovereignties the coming King of Scotland as Kinsman for dead King. Notwithstanding his triumph, Macbeth stayed upset with respect to the prescience of Banquo. This made Macbeth to welcome him to magnificent meal where he saw Banquo and his young child could be going ahead that night. He at that point recruited two men to kill them as the third killer develops bafflingly at the recreation center before the homicide. As the professional killers murders Banquo, Fleance takes the risk to escape. At the dinner, the Banquos apparition goes in and sits in Macbeths spot and Macbeth alone observes the ghost (Coursen and Herbert 1997). The rest wonder at Macbeth seething to exhaust seat till the bothered Lady Macbeth requests them to escape. Macbeth gets upset and visits the Three Witches once more. They summons the three spirits with three admonitions and predictions which orders him to be careful Macduff however none of the lady conceived could hurt Macbeth and he could never destroy till the Great Birman Wood to more noteworthy Dunsinane Hill comes against him. Macduff is in a state of banishment in England and Macbeth expect he is protected, and slaughters everyone in the Macduffs fortification including the Macduffs spouse along with their kids. Woman Macbeth feels remorseful of the violations she submitted along with her better half. She at that point sleepwalks and endeavors to wipe the bloodstains fanciful from her hands while talking about frightful things she knew. In England, Macduff and Malcolm are educated regarding Ross that her château was astonished and her darlings and spouses brutally butchered. Macbeth not considered as dictator, sees greater part of his thanes winning. Malcolm drives a military with Englishmen Siward (the senior) and Macduff, the Earl of Northumberland contrary to Dunsinane Castle. While in Birnam Wood, the military were directed to diminish and take the tree appendages to mask their measurements and satisfied the witches third forecast. Then, Macbeth gives the monologue tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow along learning of Lady Macbeths passing (Coursen and Herbert 1997). The explanation stayed unrevealed and some expect she ended it all. The fight finished in manslaughter of the youthful Macduffs and Siward squabble with Macbeth. Macbeth boasts he had no motivation to freeze Macduff as he was unable to be murdered by any man conceived by a lady. In play, the three Witches represent disorder, murkiness and strife while their obligation is as witnesses and operators. Their quality imparts approaching fate and conspiracy.
A comparing and contrasting paper about the work, lives and the impact Research
An investigating about the work, lives and the effect on society of Kate Chopin and Winslow Homer - Research Paper Example In any case, the standard for a bit of work to qualify as craftsmanship is the substance of feel in the work. For example, when a painter infers his creative mind as a composition, or an entertainer presents his work on a phase show, or an author culminates his emotions as a story, these are on the whole types of craftsmanship, and those delivering such work with a feeling of style are the craftsmen. In this unique situation, both Kate Chopin and Winslow Homer are recognized specialists in their separate fields with important commitments in the field. Kate Chopin was an American story author and writer, whose work comprises of women's activist components. Her accounts were focused for practically all age gatherings, especially for youngsters, and were frequently distributed in magazines like the Atlantic Monthly and The Century Magazine. Her work drove towards the accomplishment of the St Louis Walk of Fame Award for her various cluster of distributions during the period (Tothe 1990). Then again, Winslow Homer was an American Landscape painter and furthermore a printmaker. Filling in as a business artist, he in the end took up oil painting to create studio work looking for bit of leeway of the weight and thickness of the medium he was utilizing. Afterward, he additionally used water hues for delivering canvases and other studio works. Probably the most punctual work incorporates the canvas of Prisoners from the front which was shown in Paris. The principle subject of premium was the life of the workers and reveled into the marine themed artistic creations once he moved to Maine (Goodriche 1959). The best accomplishment of his work will in general be the memorial stamp discharged by the US present office on respect his specialty. Despite the fact that both the specialists have monstrous commitments in the field of craftsmanship during the underlying period of the twentieth century, yet their works contrast to a huge degree. On one hand where Chopin's work centered around contemporary yet commonplace topics like

What dreams and visions motivate the characters of “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck?
Regardless of how well we plan the future, things regularly turn out badly. ââ¬ËOf Mice and Men', a novella by John Steinbeck, features the sadness and adversity of the American residents during the 1930s. Following the breakdown of the New York Wall Street securities exchange, the US entered a drawn out time of financial downturn. During this time of bombed business, unforgiving neediness and long haul joblessness, a huge number of transient laborers came to California in look for work. In endeavors to escape the ââ¬Ëdust bowl' (a progression of dry seasons and bombed crops) laborers relocated west, yet to wind up in no better state; slaving in farms from everyday, inadequately paid, ineffectively took care of with nothing to free except for their expectations of seeking after ââ¬Å"The American Dreamâ⬠and in fact, as Steinbeck delineates, these expectations can be lost. Having lived and encountered this way of life, Steinbeck presents his perspectives on society during the 1930s as the characters of this book. He shows that the easiest components of personality can be the explanation of the breaking of one's fantasy. The extravagances of ââ¬Å"The Promised Landâ⬠, the fantasy about being safeguarded of dread and forlornness and the longing to carry on with an upbeat life are nevertheless dreams of a powerful future for the characters of this novel. Depression is a typical quality that a farm hand would have, be that as it may, climate or not it is a preferred position can be contended. During the 1930s, Workers were never in one spot sufficiently long to try and make companions; these men would become unconcerned and regularly put aside their desire. Characters like Carlson and Wit have no enthusiastic profundity; they are not contacted or propelled by anything. Steinbeck doesn't depict Carlson's emotions, yet rather simply the manner in which he is ââ¬Ëthick-bodied'. Carlson's first discussion in this book is one where he plots to murder Candy's canine. Here we promptly perceive Carlson's unconcerned nature. He is perhaps the best survivor at the farm along these lines; he burns through no time in arranging out ââ¬Ëdreams' for himself. Steinbeck utilizes Carlson's character to demonstrate a run of the mill farm hand, forlornness a key for his endurance. Be that as it may, as opposed to Carlson, Lennie and George are the fundamental followers of the ââ¬Å"American dreamâ⬠. Their vision of their future persuades them consistently; and has become the explanation and principle impact of their choices. Together, George and Lennie cautiously plan their fantasy and buckle down on the farm to gain cash for their future. George has rehashed their arrangement to Lennie so often that Lennie has really taken in the fantasy off by heart. George tells Lennie of how they are each going to get what they need; George opportunity and Lennie ââ¬Å"gets to tend the rabbitsâ⬠. The two characters accept that each can't look for their fantasy alone. Obviously, George says, ââ¬Å"We got someone to converse with that cares the slightest bit about usâ⬠¦ ecause I got you to care for me and you got me to take care of you,â⬠and for Lennie particularly, it has been the primary explanation behind their endurance. The memory of this fantasy is met a few times all through the novel. This shows even the most vulnerable of individuals can be invigorated by the picture of their ââ¬Å"perfect lifeâ⬠. Indeed, even George, however he appears to be very extreme, debilitates when he imagines their future, his voice becomes ââ¬Å"deeperâ⬠when he tells the fantasy and he ââ¬Å"repeats his words musically as if he had said them commonly beforeâ⬠. Steinbeck's utilization of language here pass on George's emotions, his musical tone and profound voice propose that he is in a nearly stupor like mode, fantasizing about his fantasy. This is unexpected in any case, seeing that George really closes this vision himself. He keeps his own fantasy from coming or consistently having the option to work out as expected. There is a solid good string in this story, by and large recognized as the worry for the ââ¬Å"underdogâ⬠. Steinbeck identifies with any ââ¬Å"out of the normalâ⬠character, climate genuinely or intellectually impaired, racially or explicitly unique, ââ¬Å"diverseâ⬠individuals during the 1930s were viewed as untouchables. Convicts for example, both truly crippled and of an alternate (substandard) race, shows the social weight that is provided reason to feel ambiguous about those in his condition. He speaks to Steinbeck's contemplations and what he considers life for these men. Like Crooks, Steinbeck considers dreams to be futile dreams, this is appeared by the way that Crooks doesn't really have existing dreams, he is very much aware that fantasies will never materialize for men like them; impaired, poor, ââ¬Å"blackâ⬠. As the years progressed, Crooks has woken up, he has understood that his race is a colossal deterrent which remains among himself and his joy. Criminals shows the need of an accomplice so as to have the option to dream. He possibly begins to dream when he is around different characters. Being forgotten about and overlooked has driven Crooks to isolate himself from the network, debilitating him from arranging any fantasies. ââ¬Å"He whimpered,' A person goes crazy on the off chance that he ain't got no one. ââ¬Ëâ⬠Here Steinbeck accuses the social perspectives, we feel sorry for Crooks by the way he ââ¬Å"whinesâ⬠disclosing to us how his fantasies have nearly been destroyed of him and which currently have been diminished to recollections. Conversely, George and Lennie's fantasy speaks to one's prosperity whenever joined by an accomplice. This fantasy was the nearest to getting valid as there appeared to be no shortcomings in it. In any case, when Lennie bites the dust, the fantasy gets difficult to accomplish. Maybe like Crooks, this fantasy will turn out to be nevertheless a memory to George. Convicts' recollections of his youth reflect George, Lennie and Candy's fantasy, both comparative in the manner in which they depended on being free, upbeat and being around individuals; ââ¬Å"The American Dreamâ⬠. Likewise, the two dreams also stifled because of the impacts of the individuals around them. When Lennie passes on, George's fantasy gets wiped out, in like manner, Crooks' fantasies end when he is isolated from his family, left with no inspiration, aspiration or vision to anticipate each day. This treachery, be that as it may, may be seen valuable to certain characters. For instance, at the farm, Curley has the advantage; influence, cash and a spouse. This is on the grounds that, the preference society of the 1930s permitted guilty parties like Curley to exploit less esteemed individuals, getting a charge out of certain advantages of the ââ¬Å"American Dreamâ⬠to the detriment of the more fragile characters. Another view would be that actually, Curley, however strong and incredible exhibits the enduring brought about by preference. He is quieted when a more vulnerable character, Lennie, stands firm (when Lennie squashed Curley's hand). Steinbeck shows one more dream broke when equity begins to show up. At Lennie's shooting, George is more felt sorry for in light of the fact that his fantasy isn't satisfied, and now he needs to live with a similar hopelessness and isolation Crooks perseveres. ââ¬Å"George's voice was right around a murmur. â⬠Again, a fantasy doused, demonstrating that equity has no spot in this general public. Steinbeck shows George's vulnerability, how this was outside his ability to control and how this is the way things should end. Hindrances in this novel are never survived; they are boundaries isolating dream from legitimacy. Lennie's hindrance in this story is plainly his psychological incapacity. He puts himself in risky circumstances which consequently pull him further away from his fantasy. A case of this is the point at which he slaughters Curley's significant other, Curley gets resolved to look for retribution and murder Lennie which debilitates the last from satisfying his fantasy. In any case, Lennie doesn't know about his activities, he essentially lives by what George trains him to do, spurred by the vision George has worked for him, anticipating tending his dearest hares. He doesn't comprehend what impediments are and doesn't see the ones he faces. At the point when Curley's significant other kicks the bucket, Curley is just resolved to look for retribution, as Carlson, Curley has become a forlorn man without any desire. ââ¬Å"He worked himself into a furyâ⬠this obviously shows how Curley has additionally gotten indifferent and obtuse, a similar way Carlson is, a similar way George will be the point at which he loses Lennie. Besides, Lennie's demise breaks Candy's fantasy as well. Candy's expectations of a superior life modify (as do Crooks') when he meets Lennie, he begins arranging and getting ready himself as though he was to remember his life once more: ââ¬Å"â⬠He just sets in the bunk house honing his pencils and honing and figuringâ⬠â⬠Candy is eager about this fantasy, he has constantly discovered that his age and physical incapacity have keep him from having an upbeat closure. He realizes that, much the same as his old pooch, he will be disposed of in light of the fact that he is of no utilization any longer. There is an example here which Steinbeck underlines; he reveals to us that the solid and splendid will never have a glad closure at the farm. Candy's splendid sheepdog was shot since he got old and futile, Candy will be tossed out of the horse shelter for a similar explanation and Slim is anticipated to wind up along these lines as well. Your situation in the network relies upon the amount you are acknowledged by society, which depends on social perspectives. It is amusing how Candy is powerless because of his mature age while Curley's significant other's powerlessness is because of her young age. Steinbeck alludes to bias here which is simply society's model man against different sorts of individuals. Ladies, for example were intended to be seen and not heard. They appeared to have no rights. Curley's significant other is a case of this biased thought. She is required to remain at home and engage her better half, paying little heed to her wants. Nobody thinks about her desire to be a famous actor or her aching for organization. Indeed, even her mom attempted to keep her from accomplishing her objectives since obviously ladies were more vulnerable and less candid due to their sex. Curley's significant other is a profoundly goal-oriented character, she says that she needs to make a big deal about herself, she needed to resemble ââ¬Å"in the moviesâ⬠; rich, popular and charm
ACLE Season 2: Speak Out! Essay
Last January 24, 2013, classes were suspended past 12 pm by the chancellor, to allow the understudies to go to one of the talks of ACLE or Alternative Classroom Learning Experience. I had the option to go to the talk sorted out by the Geographic Society of the University of the Philippines (GSUP), a non-benefit non-factional scholastic association made out of college understudies devoted to advance the order of geology in the Philippines. The title of the talk was, ââ¬ËCyberspace: the Geography of Social Mediaââ¬â¢. It was about how the web is associated with the real world, what our duties are when utilizing the web, and figuring out how to communicate. There were five welcomed speakers. First was Johnson Damian, a geology educator in UP Diliman. Second was Sam Gogna, or famously known as ââ¬ËSamygââ¬â¢, a radio DJ of Magic 89.9 and a TV have. Third was Lloyd Cadena, an understudy of Colegio de San Juan de Letran taking up BA Financial Management, who is presently well k nown on Youtube due to his comedic recordings. Fourth was Joyce Pring, an understudy of UP Diliman from the College of Fine Arts taking up Visual Communication, who was at one time a vj on myx, a music channel. The latter was Xeres Guia, a TV have. The talk was held at Palma Hall, room 108-110. There were a few focuses on the talk that grabbed my eye. One was when Johnson Damian said that the web is a position of self articulation. You can be you, or not you. This implies, all things considered, you might be hostile to social, however in the web the spotlightââ¬â¢s on you. I concur with this purpose of his. A significant number of us have the guts to state anything we desire to state in the web, however we keep our mouths shut in the reality. Another was when Sam Gogna said that the sky is the limit through the web. I concur with him in light of the fact that the web is such tremendous spot. These days, you can interface with your friends and family from different nations without any problem. You can arrange nourishment when youââ¬â¢re hungry just by essentially clicking. He additionally said that to be an influencer, you must be fascinating. Itââ¬â¢s genuine in light of the fact that in what capacity can you impact someone when youââ¬â¢re dull, and the things you state are insignificant. Another point was when Lloyd Cadena said that we should know our obligations when utilizing the web. Many individuals can perceive what we do on the web. They may utilize it for us or against us. We must be cautious with the things we state. We may not know about it yet there are small kids who may see our posts that contain irreverence, and we would not have any desire to be an awful impact to them. The last point was when Joyce Pring said that the greatest flames start with the littlest flashes. This is genuine particularly in informal communities. Informal organizations assist us with associating with individuals who are far away from us, however these may likewise be the explanation on why connections get demolished. One remark of yours future the reason for a colossal contention. By and large, I truly delighted in the talk. Other than the way that the welcomed speakers were individuals which Iââ¬â¢m an aficionado of, I unquestionably took in a great deal. It was additionally extremely engaging. More often than not I was giggling. In spite of the fact that with the scene, it would have been exceptional in the event that it was held in a greater room, since the speakers welcomed are particularly known. It was certainly a full house. What's more, Iââ¬â¢m happy that I came early or, more than likely Iââ¬â¢d be standing the entire time.
7 Common Myths About Panic Attacks
7 Common Myths About Panic Attacks More in Panic Disorder Symptoms Diagnosis Treatment Coping Related Conditions Panic attacks are typically begin with a sense of dread and anxiety. During a panic attack, the person can experience 4 or more of the following symptoms: Accelerated heart rate or heart palpitations Choking or suffocating sensations Chest pain Trembling or shaking Shortness of breath Depersonalization and derealization Nausea or abdominal pain Fear of losing control Excessive sweating Feelings of nervousness Fear of dying Unfortunately, there are many misconceptions about panic attacks. It can be frustrating for panic attack sufferers to explain their condition to others, especially when there are so many misunderstandings and false assumptions about these attacks. Read ahead to learn about common myths about panic attacks. Each myth is followed up with the facts about panic attacks. Myth: Panic attacks are an overreaction to stress and anxiety. You may have heard someone say something along the lines of âOh I was so worried, I just about had a panic attack,â âYou scared me so much, I started to have a panic attack,â or âI had a panic attack because I was so nervous.â These types of statements undermine what it means to truly have a panic attack. Expected anxiety or nervousness over life stressors or situation are not the same as having a panic attack. Additionally, people who have panic attacks are not overreacting to anything in their environment. That would imply that the person somehow has control over their symptoms. People with panic disorder have attacks that occur out-of-the blue, without warning or any cue in the environment. Panic sufferers may learn to manage these attacks, but they do not have control over the fact that they experience them. Myth: Panic attacks are only a symptom of panic disorder. Although panic attacks are the main symptom of panic attacks, these attacks can occur with other mental health or medical conditions. Panic attacks have also been associated with mental health disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), specific phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), agoraphobia, eating disorders, social anxiety disorder (SAD), depression, and bipolar disorder. These attacks may also be linked to certain medical conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). other digestive disorders, and sleep disorders. Myth: Panic attacks can only occur when the person is awake. Panic attacks more commonly occur while a person is awake, however, they can also happen while the person is sound asleep. Known as nocturnal panic attacks, these symptoms can wake a person out of their sleep. It is not unusual for a person to feel frightened when this occurs. Nocturnal panic attacks are frequently met with feelings of fear and a sense disconnection from oneself and oneâs surroundings. The person may believe they are having a nightmare and can find it very difficult to fall back asleep once the panic attack subsides. Myth: Panic attacks can make you go insane. When panic strikes, the person may become afraid that they are going to completely lose control. There is often a sense of embarrassment. Additionally, many fear that they are going to completely lose their minds and go insane. The truth is that although panic attacks are most likely caused by an underlying mental health condition, they are no indication that a person is about to âgo crazy.â In fact, panic attacks generally reach a peak within 10 minutes before gradually subsiding. Once the attack eases up, the person can expect to still feel on edge for quite some time but has no reason to worry about going insane. Myth: You can die from a panic attack. Symptoms such as accelerated heart rate, chest pain, excessive sweating, and shortness of breath can all be perceived of as a frightening ordeal that necessitates immediate help. Panic attacks may have symptoms that imitate other medical conditions, but they are not considered life threatening. If in doubt, you should always seek medical attention. Myth: Panic attacks can be avoided. Many people hold the belief that you can prevent panic attacks by avoiding the stimuli that trigger them. For example, a person may have come to the conclusion that if fear of flying leads to panic attacks, then the person should simply not fly. However, this is false for several reasons. First, panic disorder sufferers have panic attacks that occur unexpectedly, without environmental cause. There isnât anything they can avoid, as the attacks can occur at any time. Second, a person with a phobia as described above may have panic attacks when faced with a particular fear, such as flying. However, avoiding the objects or situations will only increase a personâs anxiety and fear. One of the most effective ways to get past anxiety triggers is to face them while trying to maintain a relaxed state. Myth: Thereâs little you can do to lessen your panic attacks. Facing your fears and learning to manage your panic attacks can best be accomplished through professional help. You will first need to schedule with your doctor so that you can be evaluated to determine the mental health or medical condition that is causing your attacks. Once your diagnosis has been made, your doctor can assist you in deciding on a course of treatment. Common treatment options include medications and psychotherapy. Through continued treatment, you may be able to control these attacks and return back to your previous levels of functioning.

Using iPads to Increase Academic Task Completion Critique - 825 Words
Using iPads to Increase Academic Task Completion Critique (Article Critique Sample) Content: Using iPads to Increase Academic Task CompletionName of the studentName of the Affiliate InstitutionUsing iPads to Increase Academic Task CompletionThe effectiveness of using iPads to Increase Academic Task Completion by Students with Autism is an academic research study that was carried out to assess the contribution of Information Technology integration into the academics of students living with autism. The study was conducted in a special needs school in Baltimore by four researchers, namely; Patricia O'Malley, M.E.B. Lewis, Claire Donehower and David Stone. The study focused on seven students with Autism Spectrum of Disorders who were enrolled in the school, to assess the impact this intervention has on their basic mathematic performance, student compliance, and assignment completion, about their disability. It was guided by four research questions, which were: 1 Does the iPad intervention improve basic math skills? 2 Does the iPad intervention reduce noncompliant Behaviors? 3 Does the iPad intervention increase independent task Completion? 4 What are the advantages of and challenges to using IPads for classroom instruction? (O'Malley, Lewis, Donehower, Stone, 2014).The study came up with various conclusions as per the objective of the survey as well as answering the four questions efficiently. This iPad intervention study was conducted in a classroom in Baltimore Maryland, which takes care of students with severe to moderate developmental disabilities, using a single subject design study. The seven students were aged 10 to 13 years and lasted for four weeks, during which the use IPads were introduced into the student's studies and the impact assessed (Dillard, 2014). This was with regard that particular needs can pose a lot of problems for the learning and development of the students, due to their limited mental coordination capacity (Shattucke et al., 2007). Fist, the intervention increased independent task completion by the students. Usin g the IPad ensured their coordination and interest in their tasks independently without the need of constant supervision, thereby increasing independent task completion. Secondly, this intervention increased the basic math skills on a LAP-3 basis, comparing the results of pretest and posttest results. Five out of the seven students who were enrolled showed significant change over a period of four weeks. In addition to those, the intervention showed a significant reduction in non-compliant behavior by the student (O'Malley, Lewis, Donehower, Stone, 2014). Students distractions and strays from their core business in school seemed to be tamed, thereby indicating a greater level of compliance with their teacher instructions. The use of iPad enhanced their concentration and fascination by education, even though they were not well acclaimed to the utilization of the gadgets. Passive noncompliance decreased between the first and the second intervention, which can be attributed to the unfam iliar tasks for the students. This is expected to decrease with increased practice and acclimatization (O'Malley, Lewis, Donehower, Stone, 2014). Lastly, the study came up with various findings on the contribution of this intervention to the overall education system for the students. First, there was a decrease in teacher support, as student independence grew. The IPad could also be modified to fit the moderate to severely disabled children.
